Mnogi muzikolozi i etnomuzikolozi smatraju album "Kostana", jednom od najboljih LP ploca u istoriji narodne muzike. Tada mladjana Gordana Lazarevic 1975. godine sjajno je otpevala sve vranjanske pesme ("Sano duso", "Otvori mi belo lence vratanca", "Stojanko bela vranjanko"...) iz cuvenog dela Bore Stankovica, uz sjajne recitale Ljube Tadica.
Goca je ubrzo postala pevac Radio Beograda, a proslavila se u prvoj postavi najbolje zenske vokalne grupe "Djerdan", pod vodjstvom muzickog pedagoga Mire Vasiljevic, zajedno sa tada mladim i neafirmisanim sjajnim pevacicama narodne muzike Gordanom Stojicevic, Andjelkom Govedarevic, Snezanom Djurisic... Ucestovala je i na festivalima narodne muzike, gde nije osvajala nagrade, ali su njene pesme postajali hitovi.

U braku sa poznatim kompozitorom i volinistom Milutinom Popovicem Zaharom imala je bogatu i uspesnu karijeru, sa pravim biserom od nezaboravnih evergrin pesama, kao sto su: "Vidovdan", "Svilen konac", "Svirajte mi", "Mars na Drinu", "Volis li me?", "Meni treba ljubav", "Hajde Rade da sviramo gajde"...

Bez afera, skandala i traceva, Goca pravi uspesnu karijeru ozbiljnog vokalnog soliste, uz trajne snimke za arhivu Radio Beograda i saradnju sa vrhunskim kompozitorima. Posle razvoda od Zahara, i dalje nastavljaju sa saradnjom. Aktivna je na diskografskom planu i liferuje popularne pesme "Opasne sitnice", "Razocarana", "Ja sam vatra", "Koliba kraj puta", da bi 1999. godine na vecini oficijelnih top-lista Zaharova pesma "Mala zena", proglasena pesmom godine, a istoimeni CD - albumom sezone. U svojoj generaciji danas je medju najtiraznijim zvezdama folka, daleko ispred mnogih popularnijih koleginica.

Peva non-stop u inostranstvu i planira konacno veliku turneju po Srbiji, uz veliki solisticki koncert u Centru "Sava", sa svojim specijalnim gostima. Planira i da sa tog koncerta snimi album uzivo, sto ce, bez sumnje, biti prava poslastica za diskofile.
